Can you hear the mystery move
A feline claims the night
We don’t know how the full moon lays
Luna down with light
Dyed and nested in bright hues and calico prints
Hidden and sought in slight rues and afterglow mints
Can you feel the mystery myrrh
Our feline fills the night
We won’t know how the dull rune plays
Monster up with sprite
Dyed and nested in bright hues and calico prints
Hidden and sought in slight rues and afterglow mints
Can you see the mystery
Will you walk with me

This is the seventh track on the second album by The Shy Reserve (Both), and also the seventh video made for YouTube from the eight-video series. It references a calico cat in a similar way with the lyrics that ‘Half Century Boy’ did from my (Randal’s) album called Solo Seasons. But, that’s where the similarities end.
It is my favorite song from the B-side of the album, the group of four songs without drums or bass. There are certain tracks in my archive that don’t quite pass the test of time for me. This one decidedly does.
