Flora and Petal met at the axis
Ephemeral energy in play
Commelina came with color and faded fast
Perennial in splendor just for one day
Dayflower white mouth erecta
Two bright blue opposing petals
One greenish ivory bloom
Full sun or light shade
Nothing gold can stay
Duckfoot and Dew met at the axis
Ephemeral energy at play
Commelina fades with the genus when time won’t last
Perennial in splendor just for one day
Dayflower dainty and unsung
Too brief, but quite ornamental
Wonderful and commonly bloomed
Divine wild display
Nothing gold can stay

This is the sixth track on the second album by The Shy Reserve (Both), and also the sixth video made for YouTube from the eight-video series. It has a similar lyrical theme that the song ‘Ephemeral’ had from my (Randal’s) album called Solo Seasons, where it calls to mind the temporary joy and beauty of a single day, season, or point in time, and a gentle reminder (mostly to myself) to bask in every moment we’re lucky enough to still be alive and kicking.
